Films & discussion-
An evening with Masanori Oe.
Sunday Feb 19, 7-9 PM
AT: Resource Center for Nonviolence, 612 Ocean St., Santa CruzDonations will help children in Fukushima to visit the relatively uncontaminated mountains. Masanori Oe is a Japanese filmmaker, anti-nuclear activist for 50 years, farmer and author. Three of Oe’s short 1960’s films will be shown, including the anti-war protest at the Pentagon in 1967. Oe was an associate of Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, and helped to found “Third World Newsreel” the cutting edge left wing documentary movie distribution group. His movies are mind-opening windows on what the new consciousness might be, and the old consciousness that is fighting it. Author and teacher Andy Couturier will join Oe. More info, 831.427.2374
