Since 1976, RCNV has been Santa Cruz County’s home for nonviolent social change—a place where community members gather to counter false narratives, spread loving justice, and build a safer, healthier, more equitable world. Today, that means offering accessible meeting space and strategic support to grassroots movements, hosting transformative events and workshops, and cultivating a love ethic that affirms everyone’s right to live fully and freely, especially amid times of conflict, war, and racial repression.
In 2026, we launched Loving Justice: A Transformational Path Toward Interbeing, a series of events and a week-long initiative exploring what it means to meet fear, anger, and loss with courage, goodwill, and fortitude. This work is rooted in the understanding that all struggles for justice are interconnected. Recognizing and nurturing these connections is how we grow the movements that change the world.
So it’s somehow fitting that two organizations connected to this year’s keynote speaker, Claudia De la Cruz—IFCO/Pastors for Peace and The People’s Forum—are named in the U.S. State Department’s new report on Cuba, which echoes McCarthy-era politics of fear in an attempt to pull us apart.
We are deeply honored to welcome Claudia—educator, community organizer, theologian, and former presidential candidate—to help us celebrate RCNV’s 50th Anniversary. Her energy will inspire us to rally around our right to live healthy, free lives, and our shared responsibility to make that freedom possible for all.
