The extraordinary response of the people of Lesvos inspired the nomination of a grandmother and a fisherman for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The characters you meet in Mermaid Madonna and the words they speak are drawn from personal and media interviews with both Greeks and Syrians who were caught in the crisis of 2015.
