Rabbi Philip Posner has been active in Social Action and Interfaith activities his entire adult life. In 1961, he joined the Freedom Rides, helping to integrate transportation facilities, and was imprisoned for 39 days in Parchman Penitentiary in Mississippi. Darrell Darling, Pastor, worked in the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) and in Selma, Alabama. The MFDP was created to challenge the whites only Democratic party of the time.

On October 18, Rabbi Posner and Rev. Darling will come together to discuss their experiences; Rev. Darling will provide background information on segregation in 1960s Mississippi and Rabbi Posner will detail his Freedom Ride, with a powerpoint presentation. Micah Posner, Rabbi Posner’s son and local community organizer, will moderate a Q&A.
