Nasser Abu Farha was born in the West Bank of Palestine, studied in the USA, earned a doctorate in anthropology at the University of Wisconsin, and founded the Palestine Fair Trade Association www.palestinefairtrade.org. PFTA works with more than 1,700 farmers, producing certified organic products and paying fair trade wages to workers and processors. PFTA also has an active micro loan program for a network of women\’s coops, a scholarship fund providing the opportunity for many Palestinian families to send their first children to college, and other community education and outreach programs. Farha, author of \”Making of a Human Bomb,\” a study of Palestinian \”suicide bombers,\” will describe efforts to strengthen the viability of the Palestinian economy and to achieve eventual self-determination for the Palestinian people. Opportunities for donations or low-interest loans to support PFTA will be described. Abu Farha is an exceptionally articulate, committed, innovative and effective community organizer and spokesperson for Palestinian human and national rights.
