This stunning collection by photojournalists Kevin Painchaud and Shmuel Thaler offers a breathtaking glimpse into a defining moment in Santa Cruz, chronicling our community’s movement for racial justice during the summer of 2020. These images tell a powerful story of Black activists who courageously organized local protests in response to the murder of George Floyd.
We want to activate community awareness as to how today’s national political unrest is a backlash to the Black Lives Matter uprisings of 2020.
