Santa Cruz Poor People’s Campaign Action

Santa Cruz Poor People's Campaign Action

Fifty years after Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated working on the Poor People’s Campaign, there is a new Poor People’s Campaign taking shape. Locally, organizations have come together to explore how we can act locally to support the Poor People’s Campaign, and to highlight how their demands relate to our local community.

In the face of systemic racism, systemic poverty, ecological devastation, the war economy/militarism, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism — we must engage in mass nonviolent moral direct action. We must declare that we won’t be silent anymore about the war on the poor! On Saturday, June 23 the Campaign will head to the Post Office in Downtown Santa Cruz for the Rally & Action for Moral Revival, launching the next phase of our movement for the long-haul.

WE WILL BE HOLDING AN ACTION AND EDUCATIONAL EVENT ON SATURDAY JUNE 23RD IN SANTA CRUZ FROM 1PM-4PM at the DOWNTOWN POST OFFICE IN SANTA CRUZ.

The vision is for this to be just the beginning of a on-going campaign that will build community power and build bridges between existing organizations and networks.
