Letters from the Peace Corps
Never Gonna Cease My Wanderin’ is the story of the long friendship between Ruth and a college classmate, Beryl Brinkman, and consists of letters they wrote to each other over two years Ruth was in Peace Corps Philippines, a year Beryl spent in Europe, then Beryl’s two years in Peace Corps Afghanistan. The letters and journal entries detail their experiences and travels and also their search for how to make their lives match their dreams of justice and world peace.
Ruth Royal served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines in the early 60s during the first years of the organization. She has lived in Santa Cruz since 1969 where she worked in public education, at the Santa Cruz Public Library and the YWCA and is now retired. Ruth\’s husband, Nick Royal, was also in Peace Corps Philippines and is retired from UC Santa Cruz.
