George Houser, age 99, June 2, 1916 – August 19, 2015,
WWII C.O., mentor, civil and human rights organizer, died recently in Santa Rosa. He wrote articles for RCNV, spoke at and visited RCNV many times. He organized one of the first Freedom Rides in 1947, was co-founder of the Congress on Racial Equality, and was active with the Fellowship of Reconciliation since the 1940’s. Scott Kennedy served with George on the FOR National Council. George was an expert on South Africa, and worked there for many years to abolish apartheid.
