Oct. 17: Gandhi & the Unspeakable- Why He Died and Why It Matters, with Jim Douglass

Saturday, October 17, 7:00p.m. at the Resource Center for Nonviolence, 515 Broadway, Santa Cruz. Suggested sliding scale donation of $5-20.  No one turned away for lack of funds.

In 1948, Mohandas Gandhi was murdered by unspeakbale forces targeting his vision of a force more powerful than war. Jim Douglass will present the unrecognized history behind Gandhi’s assassination that provides a key to understanding the later murders of John F. Kennedy,  Martin Luther King, Jr., and the unspeakable targeting of a nonviolent vision today.

Jim Douglass is a longtime peace activist and writer.  He and his wife Shelley are cofounders of the Ground Zero Center for Nonivolent Action in Poulsbo, Washington, and Mary’s House, a Catholic Worker house of hospitality in Birmingham, Alabama.  He also authored “The Nonviolent Coming of God,” “Lightning East to West: Jesus, Gandhi, and the Nuclear Age,” “Resistance and Contemplation,” and “The Nonviolent Cross: A Theology of Revolution and Peace,” and “JFK and the Unspeakable.”
